Artist Statement

Growing up in a small town in North Carolina, I cherished the experiences of small town life, but always wanted to see more and be a part of something bigger than myself. With a whole world to explore, the possibilities are endless.

As an artist, I traditionally paint in oils, but I take the time to practice several other mediums, such as textiles, watercolor, and pastel. My subject matter varies tremendously. However painting figures and representations of my own memories are themes that I often come back to.

Currently pursuing my Bachelor’s of Fine Art with a concentration in painting and drawing at East Carolina University, I challenge myself to produce work with a specific concept. I prioritize creating pieces that represent something traditional in an unconventional way. In conjunction with my ever-changing work, I prioritize submitting to exhibitions around the country. Art for me is about recording moments and seasons in my life in way that can be shared with the world.
